NICOLA STURGEON was greeted by rapturous applause as she took to the stage to make her debut at a comedy festival days after being cleared by a police probe into SNP finances.

The former first minister appeared at the Books and Banter show at Glasgow Comedy Festival alongside crime author pal Val McDermid.
McDermid wore a red T-shirt emblazoned with a cartoon cat with a bloodied knife, emblazoned with the words “You saw nothing”.
