The actress tells us how her dad's accent helped her career and explains why starring in The Thursday Murder Club movie was a joy from start to finish

- BY RICK FULTON

THIS year has been hectic for Celia Imrie, filming Celebrity Traitors in Scotland and starring in Netflix's new film The Thursday Murder Club.

But the 73-year-old has admitted she couldn't be happier having been filming north of the Border and working with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and David Tennant in the film adaption of Richard Osman's book.

She said: "I can't say too much about Celebrity Traitors but it was so much fun. I'm half-Scots so to be up in Inverness in all its beauty during bluebell season.

"I had a great time and I'm extremely proud of having Scottish blood."

There is a tartan tinge to The Thursday Murder Club Club. Bathgate-born Tennant plays Ian Ventham, the co-owner of Cooper Chase, a retirement community where four retirees who investigate cold case murders for fun find themselves involved in a real murder.

Also in the club with Celia as retired nurse Joyce Meadowcroft and Ben Kingsley as psychiatrist Ibrahim Arif, is former Prime Suspect star Mirren as ex-spy Elizabeth Best.
