Malcolm admits Ibrox boss will be consumed by Gers' inconsistency
IF Rangers don't manage to beat Celtic at Ibrox today Bob Malcolm might just turn his phone off.
Because one thing's for sure. Not long after full-time, the name Barry Ferguson will flash up on his screen.
And over the years he has probably heard enough of his former Ibrox team-mate’s moans and groans.
But, ultimately, it's because he cares.
Very few people in the game know the Rangers interim manager better than Malcolm.
From when their dads worked together as roofers, to coming through the ranks at their boyhood club.
To being part of a Treble-winning Gers side, to being gaffer and assistant boss at Kelty Hearts and Alloa.
These two know each other inside out.
So if today’s Old Firm derby result goes badly for Ferguson, Malcolm will know exactly what's coming.
He says his pal will be pulling his hair out at the current squad’s failure to hit the heights he did as Ibrox skipper.
And now that Ferguson is in charge, Malcolm knows any loss or defeat will linger long after the final whistle.
In an exclusive interview with MailSport, the former Rangers midfielder said: “The job will be consuming Barry and he will be annoyed at the results.
“I'm glad I'm not in there with him because my phone would be going every two minutes!
