Mac and John's veg shop
Sunday Mail
|November 02, 2025
JOHN Lennon and Paul McCartney once worked behind the counter selling fruit and veg.
The Beatles legends - famed for songs including Strawberry Fields Forever and Glass Onion - served customers at a greengrocer's run by Mike Robbins.
Mike, the father of comedian Ted Robbins - famed for starring in Phoenix Nights, Ackley Bridge and Little Britain - ran the shop in Bebington, Merseyside.
McCartney, the cousin of Mike's wife Betty, bought a house for Mike in the early 60s, just as Beatlemania took off, and worked in his shop.
