LATE WINNER'S NO FAD FOR ME
Sunday Mail
|August 17, 2025
LUKAS FADINGER hit a late winner for the second time in the tournament as Motherwell wore down Saints in extra time.
-

The Austrian had endeared himself to the Fir Park fans with a 90th-minute strike against Peterhead in the group stage. And when Jens Berthel Askou needed a clinical touch in Perth yesterday, Fadinger stepped up again.
He darted in behind Reghan Tumilty to collect a superb disguised pass by ex-Saints loan man Elliot Watt. Fadinger steered a shot past Toby Steward from a tight angle to reward the Premiership side's patience and commitment to passing their way to a win.
Clear-cut chances were elusive earlier in the match despite the Steelmen bossing the ball.
Ref David Dickinson angered Motherwell by denying a 50th-minute spot-kick when Adama Sidibeh appeared to trip Stephen O'Donnell. Dickinson, in a game without VAR, took a moment before brandishing a yellow card to O'Donnell for simulation.
