I threw my first pregnancy test on the floor..I couldn't wait for the result

WHEN Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins got pregnant, it was her husband who gave her the news rather than the other way around.

The actress married PE teacher Adam Whitehead just four months ago and the pair were keen to start a family before they even walked down the aisle.

Asked how she broke the news to him, Isabel, 31 - who has played Victoria Sugden on the ITV soap since she was 12 - admits: “He actually told me.”

Adam, 28, explains: “Isabel was late by a few days, so she did a test. But then she just threw it on the floor and it was upside-down just lying there.”

“I didn't want to look,” Isabel says. “I felt it would make time go slower to stare. But Mr Impatient comes along to look at it and sees it’s positive. I thought, ‘Surely we can't trust it because it’s been upside-down, so it might have impacted the result’. So we rushed to Boots to buy three more - and they were all positive too.”

The couple told us in May that having a family would be the “next step” after their Manchester wedding, attended by many of Isabel's costars.

But the star, who is almost four months pregnant, says that although they were trying for a family, they cannot believe how quickly it has happened.

Isabel says: “It’s still sinking in. It’s something we wanted to happen but now it actually has, it’s weird.”
