SMILES BETTER Maswanhise celebrates after firing past Trevor Carson, left

MOTHERWELL boss Jens Berthel Askou insists he'll fight to keep Tawanda Maswanhise amid growing interest in the 23-year-old striker.

The Zimbabwean international took his tally to 16 for club and country as he scored the only goal of the game to fire the Steelmen into the last 16 of the Scottish Cup at Ross County's expense.

Interim Celtic manager Martin O'Neill was at the game along with coach Mark Fotheringham and, after Maswanhise netted an instinctive striker’s goal just after the hour mark, Askou has maintained that Motherwell are in rush to sell - and under no financial pressure to do so.

When asked about O'Neill's presence at the game, Askou said: “Yeah, I am [calm]. Look, there has been interest in our players already in the summer window.

“That interest has been growing and will hopefully grow and grow until we find the right moment with the player to move them on.
