Hello dear, yes, it's me, Keir. I seem to have come to work without any hope. Could you look down the back of the sofa?

THE Labour Party needs a new story.
And it needs to stop blaming the Tories.
Winston Churchill became prime minister in 1940 when the UK was on the brink of defeat to the Nazis.
Against appalling odds he told the nation we would win the war with little evidence to back that up beyond his own will. That we would never surrender.
That force of will has made him revered ever since.
You get the feeling that if Sir Keir Starmer had taken over in the same circumstances he would have told the nation that his predecessor Neville Chamberlain had made an arse of it for not rearming, it wasn't Starmer's fault, winning the war was touch and go and that as a lawyer he had told the King to put some of the colonies in his wife's name.
He offers no hope. He blames the Tories who we voted out but whom we seem unable to escape.
I don't want to be too historical but in 1945, with a greater debt burden and a devastated country to rebuild, Clement Atlee founded the NHS within three years.
When Keir Starmer took office in 2024, he told us it would take a decade to rebuild the NHS. A decade. Where's the hope?
