Wright and Ando crash out of World Cup with whitewash

- BY CRAIG SWAN

GREEDY Gian van Veen scalped two legends at once as he destroyed Scotland's World Cup hopes in a Dutch whitewash.

Gary Anderson and Peter Wright, with four World titles between them, were obliterated in a Frankfurt flogging.

While Hong Kong heroes Man Lok Leung and Lok Yin Lee lit up the stage with their celebrations, the Dutch punters barely had time to bask in theirs.

Van Veen and Danny Noppert were unstoppable as they took the Scots to pieces in ruthless fashion and turned a pre-match joke into a brutal reality.

The game was done in the opening session as the rampant pair needed less than 13 minutes to take the first seven legs.

The formality was laid in place and, with the Scots missing chances to get a leg on the board after the resumption, Noppert sealed the 8-0 win.
