Hypothetical Lawrence-to-Gers deal a non-starter

MURDER - that’s how Joe Savage describes the work of a recruitment chief in the January window.

He has suffered it, thankfully not in the literal sense, at four clubs.

And it's why the former Hearts sporting director admits he has sympathy even for those under-fire members of the Celtic board where recruitment has gone so woefully awry in the last 12 months.

The current window will shut tomorrow evening and it has been suggested that whichever club in the three-horse Premiership race which does the best business over the course of the month will gallop over the finish line first.

Savage said: “I’m interested to see what Celtic do in the last days of the transfer window.
