Couple up on fraud charge over £216k cancer kid fundraiser

A SCOTTISH couple have appeared in court charged with embezzlement over a £200,000 online fundraiser for a cancer-stricken boy which was backed by Simon Cowell and David Walliams.
Sharyn, 39, and Mark McInally-Johnston, 44, were charged over a GoFundMe appeal set up for Nathaniel Nabena, who had leukaemia and has since died.
Started in February 2021, the campaign collected more than £216,000 to enable the 10-year-old Nigerian to undergo a stem cell transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital after he was ineligible for NHS-funded care.
Britain's Got Talent judges Cowell and Walliams pledged five-figure sums for the cause highlighted by former This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield.
