JEREMY Corbyn's new party could stand candidates in the Scottish election next year.

The former Labour leader is setting up a left-wing outfit with fellow independent Zarah Sultana.

More than 700,000 people are claimed to have registered support online and sources have said the figure includes more than 50,000 north of the Border.

Jim Monaghan is a member of the Collective Scotland steering group which is helping establish the party.

He said: “It is early days but their could be candidates in the Scottish election.

“Certainly, I hope there will be an involvement in some form from left-wing groups which could come together in the new party.
