LYALL CAMERON last night apologised to Dundee's fans, insisting he never meant to cause offence with his comments about joining Rangers.

- BY ROBBIE COPELAND

The midfielder started for Gers yesterday in a 1-1 comeback draw against his former side at Ibrox.

He faced a backlash after claiming life at Rangers was like being a "full-time footballer" after leaving Dundee in the summer.

But he insists he did not mean to cause upset and said: "Some of the comments I made didn't their own fans at full time ahead of Tuesday's vital Champions league qualifier at Viktoria Plzen.

The manager said he understood the fans' reaction but was less impressed with the punters jeering the 55th-minute introduction of Kieran Dowell.

Martin said: "It's a bit of pain and when you get through that pain, it's so worth it.

"I don't think I expected anything less coming here.

"It's not going to be a quick fix. This club have not had success for a long, long time.
