Harvey hits a dream double to give Scots boss Steve food for thought ahead of the World Cup finals

- CARL ASKEW AT ST JAMES' PARK

HARVEY BARNES showed Scotland what he could bring to the World Cup party with a brilliant double to sink title-chasing Manchester City.

The Newcastle winger admitted earlier this week that he could switch international allegiances to Scotland after only representing England in a friendly.

Whether Steve Clarke explores calling him up for the finals next summer or sticks with the players who served him so well in the qualifiers remains to be seen.

But Barnes would certainly bring a bit of stardust after proving he can do some damage against the best defenders in the world. He fired the Magpies ahead against Pep Guardiola’s men with a classy finish.

And after Ruben Dias had levelled for City, it was the winger who popped up again with a close-range winner.
