YOUNG Gunner Max Dowman wrote his name in the history books as the teenage sub kept Arsenal on track for the title.

The academy kid became the youngest scorer in Premier League history - aged 16 years and 73 days - as he sealed the late win over Everton with a clincher at the death.

It was a moment so good that boss Mikel Arteta almost split his trousers with his over-the-top celebration.

The Spaniard’s side looked lost for ideas as the clock ticked down on a stalemate against Everton.

But sub Dowman conjured up an 89th-minute goal for Viktor Gyokeres then the playmaker added a second himself, racing the length of the pitch to score in the seventh minute of added time.

A breathless Arteta admits he almost had a premonition that schoolboy could be hero.

He said: “Probably in my head I had a gut feeling.
