Weather woe puts outdoor work at risk

But the UK's approach to the problem "is outdated and potentially dangerous", experts warn.

Climate change is predicted to bring periods of extreme heat in the spring and summer, and heavy storms and winds in the autumn and winter months.

The UK experienced record-breaking temperatures that hit over 40C in July 2022, and since records began in 1884, the 10 warmest years recorded have been from 2003 onwards.

But bosses are accused of not doing enough to protect staff, with calls for temperature threshold rules when work must cease.
