ROGERS STOKES UP VILLA'S EURO PUSH
Sunday Express
|April 06, 2025
UΝΑΙ EMERY and Aston Villa will head to Paris with a spring in their step after getting the better of Nottingham Forest - but they should never have let it get this close.
The 1982 European Cup winners have their biggest game in years on Wednesday when they face the mighty Paris Saint-Germain at the quarter-final stage of European's elite competition.
And when Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen both struck inside an impressive opening 15 minutes, it looked like being a comfortable warm-up.
But Villa relaxed and Forest pulled one back through Jota Silva to make it a nervy second half.
Still, Villa are now up to sixth in the Premier League after a seventh straight win and are just one point behind Chelsea, and six behind Forest in third.
Such is the strength in depth at Villa Park at the moment that Emery could afford to make eight changes with only Emi Martinez, Youri Tielemans and Rogers remaining from the win over Brighton.
