PRAY TO WIN TONIGHT!

ENGLAND manager Gareth Southgate wants tonight’s World Cup clash with Senegal to give fans happy moments to “remember forever”.

PRAY TO WIN TONIGHT!

The Three Lions’ boss said his team are desperate to maintain the feelgood factor which started with success in the 2018 tournament and last year’s Euros.

He said his players are in “good form” as they meet the African champions – nicknamed the Lions of Teranga – in their first knockout game in Qatar.

Southgate added they are expecting a tough game at the Al Bayt stadium, in Doha, but have a fully fit squad who are brimming with confidence.

Both manager and team want to go further than runners-up in Euro 2020 and fourth place in Russia.

“We have always wanted to bring the country on a journey with us and to create nights that people remember forever,” said Southgate.

“I think we have had a few of those over the last few years. And we hope Sunday’s another one.’’

England go into tonight’s fixture – the first between the countries at senior level – as favourites after coming top of Group B.

They powered through with impressive wins against Iran and Wales, and a draw against the USA, scoring nine goals and conceding only two.

Senegal, meanwhile, came second to the Netherlands in Group A, after beating Ecuador and the hosts Qatar, but losing to the Dutch.
