Nasty Nigel quits show over sex assault claim

NIGEL Lythgoe said it was with a "heavy heart" that he had decided to step back from the upcoming US series of So You Think You Can Dance, as he focuses on clearing his name amid sex assault allegations.
The announcement came a week after US singer and choreographer Paula Abdul accused the Wirralborn TV producer of multiple sexual assaults while she appeared as a judge on American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.
Lythgoe was an executive producer of British talent show Pop Idol as well as American Idol, before co-creating and starring on US series So You Think You Can Dance, which launched in 2005. As a panel judge he has earned the nickname "Nasty Nigel" due to his cutting remarks.
