Nash scattered mum's ashes at Albert Hall

FOLK star Graham Nash secretly scattered some of his late mother's ashes at famous venues like the Royal Albert Hall where she had dreamed of performing as a singer.

He also said music "saved his life" after growing up in the slums of post-war Salford in poverty.

And he revealed his family's struggles were made worse when his amateur photographer father William was jailed for a year in Strangeways for giving him a stolen camera on his 10th birthday.

The singer-songwriter, 81, a key member of successful bands The Hollies, and Crosby, Stills And Nash, said his mother Mary had wanted to be a singer and on the stage, but had married his dad instead.

He told Desert Island Discs: "She is the reason we are talking now.
