Lilywhites win Lancs hotpot in emphatic style

IT was shades of 1966 as Preston ended their 59-year wait to reach the FA Cup's last eight.

The rest of the country will remember that year more for the triumph of Bobby Moore and company when England were crowned World Cup winners.

But in this part of Lancashire the talk was all of proud Preston earning a quarter-final tie with Manchester United, going on to lose in a replay. The last time they had gone this far.

Yesterday at Deepdale it was the afternoon when the normally Fort Knox-style Burnley defence was breached to leave today's Preston supporters dreaming once again.
