Health warning over ditching weight-loss jab

PATIENTS planning to stop using weight-loss jab Mounjaro when its price soars next month have been urged to seek medical guidance or risk serious health issues.

Of the UK’s 1.25 million weight-loss jab users, 51% of those quizzed by researchers say they will move to the cheaper Wegovy jab, while 29% — 326,000 people — will abandon the treatment completely.

The findings come as the cost of Mounjaro is set to rocket by up to 170% from September 1 taking the highest dose from £122 to £330 per month.

Pharmacists and doctors fear the move will spark a wave of unsafe treatment changes and fuel demand for dangerous counterfeit jabs on the black market.
