CARRICK’S FIRED UP FOR BORO BY ROBBO

MICHAEL CARRICK says a chat with fellow Manchester United legend Bryan Robson convinced him to become Middlesbrough boss.
Carrick first spoke to Boro owner Steve Gibson almost three weeks ago about succeeding Chris Wilder, but it was only after speaking with Robson that he decided the Riverside was the perfect place for him to launch his managerial career.
Three decades ago, Robson left United for Boro and took them to two promotions and three cup finals.
Carrick, 41, who had a glittering 15-year career at Old Trafford, is now looking to follow in the footsteps of one of his heroes.
