Brits' balanced diet of foie gras...and Greggs!

Demand for the French delicacy has tripled since 2021 when the Government announced it was considering banning imports of the controversial pate, which has been illegal to produce in the UK since 2006.

It is made from the liver of a duck or goose fattened by force feeding, and has long been condemned by welfare campaigners.

Around 200 tonnes was brought into Britain in 2021 but last year that had more than tripled to 638 tonnes.

That has not gone down well with animal lovers.
