BEES’ BUY DANGO MAKES VILLA SICK
Sunday Express
|August 24, 2025
IT’S a funny old game when a small bus stop in Hounslow can splash out more cash on players than a team that played in the Champions League last season.
But the club-record £42.5million Brentford spent on Dango Ouattara proved the difference in this game to give Keith Andrews his first win as Bees boss.
Afterwards Andrews described his pride as the Bees gave him a memorable day.
“The overriding emotion is pride,” said Andrews.
“I spoke before about identity of our team. I felt we saw it in abundance, the spirit and connection between players, staff and fans.
“Ultimately we produced a performance that was us.”
Ouattara’s strike highlighted one of a number of glaring problems Aston Villa boss Emery needs to fix sharpish, PSR-rules allowing, if a top-five finish is to be a realistic goal.
Villa’s lack of pace limits them in attack, as no goals from their opening two games shows, while the soft underbelly on the road that cost them a Champions League spot last season still remains.
Emery said: “We weren’t really performing with the intensity we needed.
