Appeal for West to unite against Iran's 'prisoner massacre'
Sunday Express
|October 12, 2025
SENIOR UK, US and European politicians have called on the West to unite and condemn Iran's “massacre” of prisoners.
The regime has killed 1,200 so far this year alone, and campaigners including Bob Blackman, chairman of the 1922 committee of Conservative MPs, said Iran holds the “grim distinction of having the highest number of executions per capita in the world”.
The Mullahs have retained their grip on power despite civil unrest, including widespread protests in 2022 and 2023 following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. She had been arrested for allegedly failing to wear the hijab, contrary to rules enforced by Tehran's religious morality police.
