Airbus take-off delayed after delivery targets cut

IT'S BEEN a turbulent week of news flow for aeroplane maker Airbus, causing the group to lower its full-year delivery guidance by 30 to around 790 aircraft.

This comes after it discovered a quality issue with a batch of fuselage panels from one of its suppliers. These turned out to be thinner than expected, delaying plane build times, while checks are made to ensure they remain within regulatory limits.

This comes hot on the heels of thousands of its bestselling A320 aircraft being briefly grounded earlier in the week. This was caused by intense solar radiation disrupting the flight control systems on around 6,000 of its planes. Most of these aircraft have already been fixed with a simple software update, so the financial impact shouldn't be significant.
