Ads for crossings push lie that rescue is guaranteed

PEOPLE smugglers have been selling Channel small boat crossings with the promise that the emergency services will help if migrants get into trouble.
The cunning criminals are promoting deals on social media, guaranteeing that the French police and coastguard will intervene if needed - and allow those on dinghies to try to get to Britain again.
At the same time, police in northern France have reported a wave of attacks on officers on beaches as they try to prevent migrants “swarming” towards inflatable boats offshore.
Videos promoting journeys on TikTok and WhatsApp showed the presence of the French coastguard in the water.
