Southern Cape tourism gets a boost

The economic potential of tourism and skills development in the Southern Cape took centre stage this week during a visit by Dr Ivan Meyer, Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism.
Importance of tourism
The visit to key locations across Mossel Bay, George and the Hessequa municipal area, highlighted the importance of tourism as a catalyst for regional growth and job creation.
"This visit forms part of our broader Growth for Jobs strategy, which promotes economic development through skills training, destination marketing and innovation," said Meyer.
"We must build on the momentum following Mossel Bay's recognition as South Africa's leading tourism destination."
