Safari Park celebrates being open for 55 years

Blair Drummond Safari Park has been celebrating its 55th birthday.
The park opened its gates for the first time on May 15, 1970, and since then has welcomed millions of visitors, raised generations of incredible animals, and grown into one of Scotland's most popular family attractions.
Throughout its 55 years, the park has been proudly family-owned and run by the Muir family, whose family home between 1916 and 1977 was neighbouring Blair Drummond House, which today is a residential home for adults with learning disabilities managed by The Camphill Trust.
As well as celebrating its own 55th birthday, the park has also been celebrating the birthday of one of its long-time residents-chimp Gill. And it has also been welcoming its latest arrivals.
