Cllrs debate new tax move

Controversial plans to introduce a tourist tax which were nodded through by Stirling Council have been welcomed by a leading SNP councillor-while a Labour opponent claimed it had been rushed through.

During the full council meeting discussion, the SNP group backed a move for a three per cent levy, with Stirling East councillor Gerry McLaughlan speaking in support.
He said the consultation process had been "exhaustive"and said there had been support for the idea of a levy within the business community.
