AIIMS Jammu's Dermatology Deptt emerges as regional leader in advanced skin care

The Department of Dermatology at AIIMS Jammu has rapidly established itself as a leading center for dermatological care in the Jammu region, achieving significant milestones within just one year of initiating patient care services.

"Since the commencement of its OPD services, the department has consistently managed a substantial patient load of approximately 110-120 patients daily. This overwhelming response underscores both the growing trust in AIIMS Jammu's healthcare delivery and the region's demand for expert dermatological consultation and treatment," Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu said in the statement issued on Monday.

Despite the heavy footfall, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta said, the department remains committed to a patient centric approach, ensuring that individuals receive timely consultations and high-quality care.

"Efficient workflow systems have resulted in minimal waiting times, even as the department continues to enhance its clinical offerings. Routine dermatological assessments are strengthened by the availability of advanced diagnostic tools such as dermoscopy, ultraviolet-enhanced video-dermoscopy, and in-house skin biopsies. These technologies collectively improve diagnostic precision, enabling the accurate management of a broad range of skin conditions," Prof. (Dr.) Gupta said. In terms of therapeutic care, Prof. (Dr.) Gupta said, the department has made remarkable progress. Chemical peels are being routinely administered for pigmentary disorders, including melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, acne, and for general skin rejuvenation.
