- JON DOEL

The Welsh capital will be the venue for six tournament matches in total, including a last-16 tie and a quarterfinal knockout fixture.

The tournament, which will be staged across the UK and Ireland, will be the largest sporting event ever jointly hosted by the co-host nations.

It had already been reported Wales would be part of Euro 2028 with England, Ireland and Scotland, but the exact number of games and awarding of the opening match to Cardiff has now been announced.

The opening night in Cardiff is scheduled for Friday, June 9, 2028, with further group matches on the 14th, 18th and 21st. The last-16 fixture is on June 24, with the quarterfinal on July 1.

The Principality Stadium will host games alongside eight other stadia, including Wembley, Hampden Park in Glasgow, Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
