Wales set for Boks clash in rugby's new world

November 18, 2025

WORLD Rugby has announced the fixtures for next year’s inaugural Nations Championship, which has been described as a “tectonic shift” in the sport.

The new biennial 12-team tournament will be contested by the northern and southern hemisphere sides to decide which is the dominant force, with Finals Weekend to be held at London's Allianz Stadium next November.

Six rounds of matches take place in the summer and autumn before three doubleheader fixture days on November 27-29 will determine which nation is crowned champion.

Wales will play three away matches next summer, rather than the usual tour to one country.

They begin their campaign on July 4 by taking on Fiji. They face Argentina on July 11, before meeting world champions South Africa on July 18.

In the autumn, Wales host Japan on the weekend of November 6, before the visit of New Zealand on the weekend of November 13.
