Swans set for Big Sleep Out
South Wales Evening Post
|November 08, 2025
NOVEMBER is a busy month for our area and its communities.
-
As the Halloween decorations are taken down households had only a few days to prepare for bonfire night, making the decision whether it'll be an organised display this year or a family fireworks display at home with hot dogs, burgers and doughnuts.
Christmas parades and light switch ons are next on the calendar as Santa visits Swansea, Morriston, Gorseinon, Llanelli. Neath and Port Talbot to name just a few.
However one event has now become part of the ‘Swansea Events’ calendar and that’s the ‘Swans Big Sleep Out!
The sleep out returns to the Swansea.com Stadium this November as Swansea City AFC Foundation and Matthew’s House partner up to raise awareness of homelessness.
This year’s sleep out takes place on Friday November 14, almost exactly one year on from last year's ‘Swans Big Sleep Out} which raised over £36,000.
This year organisers are hoping to raise £40,000 to support the work of Matthew's House as they offer hope, dignity, food and friendship to those who need it most in our city.
Of course, sleeping out for one night is no comparison to the realities of homelessness and that isn't what the sleep out aims to do.
What it does achieve is that the Sleep Out gives participants a better understanding of what too many people have to deal with on a regular basis.
