Investigation amid concerns over animal rescue centre
South Wales Evening Post
|March 18, 2026
AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into an animal rescue centre after concerns were raised about the facility.
Many Tears Animal Rescue centre in Cefneithin appealed for help in finding new homes for 19 beagles in 2022.

The Post has spoken to several people including people who've adopted dogs from Many Tears animal rescue centre in Cefneithin, Carmarthen-shire, a woman whose dog was killed by another dog being fostered from Many Tears, and a vet who used to volunteer for the rescue.
Those we've spoken to who have adopted dogs from Many Tears claimed they weren't given all of the necessary information on the health of the dogs they adopted. They claimed they adopted dogs from the rescue centre with undisclosed or undermined medical conditions.
A woman whose dog was killed by a Great Dane who was being fostered from Many Tears claimed the rescue hadn’t done enough to prevent that incident happening.
A vet who volunteered at Many Tears alleged overcrowded kennels, frequent dog fights and unsafe veterinary practices. She claimed unqualified staff were carrying out surgeries without proper supervision.
It comes as inspectors from Animal Licensing Wales (ALW), accompanied by officers from Dyfed-Powys Police, visited Many Tears on Tuesday, March 10, following reports including these allegations. ALW said it can’t comment while its investigation is ongoing. No animals have been removed from the site and the centre continues to operate while the investigation continues.
Many Tears has denied the allegations. The rescue has said in a statement they rehome up to 3,000 dogs a year and there are bound to be some isolated incidents where health issues arise which were not apparent before adoption. A spokesperson said no concerns have been raised by ALW about the condition or care of the animals on site.
