A MAN has described how he opened his caravan door late at night to find two masked men armed with guns who jumped on him and attacked him.

- JASON EVANS Court and crime reporter

Christopher Mills said he was "fighting for his life" as he struggled with armed intruders who were carrying gas masks and cable ties.

The terrifying scene was described to jurors at the trial of Mr Mills' wife, Michelle, and former soldiers Geraint Berry and Steven Thomas who are all accused of conspiracy to murder. The trio deny the allegation and are on trial at Swansea Crown Court.

The court has heard that just after 11.30pm on the night of September 20 last year Michelle and Christopher Mills were in the lounge of their caravan at the Argoed Meadows camping and caravan park in Cenarth near Newcastle Emlyn when there was a knock at the door.

Former solider Mr Mills answered the door to find two masked and gloved men carrying guns who then burst inside and attacked him.

It is the prosecution case that the raid was part of a plot by the three defendants to murder Mr Mills.

Giving evidence from the witness box yesterday Mr Mills described how he answered the knock on the caravan door to be confronted by two men wearing dark-coloured overalls and balaclavas and carrying pistols.
