Health minister won't stand for Senedd re-election

JEREMY Miles has announced he will not be standing in next May’s Senedd elections.

The MS, who ran against Vaughan Gething to be First Minister when Mark Drakeford stepped down, said it had been the honour of his life to represent his Neath constituency since he was first elected in 2016.

The current health minister said that although it had not been an easy decision he had ultimately decided he wanted more time to balance work with commitments to people in his life.

Mr Miles wrote: “Being in frontline politics as a Member of the Senedd and as a cabinet member for most of the last decade, is all-consuming and rightly takes precedence over so much else in life.
