REIGNING champions St Fagans are back on song in the South Wales Premier Cricket League.
-
The Stags got the defence of their crown off to a poor start last weekend when they lost to Bridgend Town, but they proved too strong for Swansea in their second game as they coasted home by eight wickets.
The clash brought together the winners of the title for the past two summers. Indeed, no other club has lifted the trophy since 2018.
Swansea won the toss and elected to bat, but were made to regret that decision as they were all out for just 93 in 32.2 overs.
Ollie Sherwood took 3-18 and Owen Morgan 3-22.
St Fagans raced to their target in the 12th over, with Jack Murphy making 26 and new Glamorgan capture Callum Nicholls 25.
Usk made it two wins from two with an impressive win at Ynystawe.
Both sides went into the clash with confidence high after victories on the opening weekend of the season, but Usk came out on top with a seven-wicket success.
Ollie Rayner took 4-25 and Matthew Marriott 3-24 as Ynystawe were dismissed for 114. Opener Tom Blake top-scored with 42.
Hugo Caldicott then steered the visitors home with a fluent 61 that featured 13 boundaries. Rayner added an unbeaten 27.
Newport marked themselves down as one of the teams to beat this year by defeating Abergavenny by three runs in a thriller.
