Restaurant second to be targeted in weeks

A CARDIFF chef is “frustrated” after a burglar broke into his restaurant. The premises was targeted despite having extensive CCTV and alarms at the property.

Uisce, a wine and oyster bar from the team behind Heaney’s, was targeted by an masked individual who forced entry to the premises in Pontcanna by smashing through the front door during the early hours of Sunday.

They were inside the restaurant for around three minutes, while alarms were sounding, before they made off with a few bottles of alcohol.

Tommy Heaney, the Irish-born chef behind some of Cardiff's best restaurants, said he and his partner Nikki had arrived home in Bridgend after leaving the restaurant when he was alerted to the break-in via his security app.

“We'd left the restaurant at about 1.30am and just as we got home we had the security alarm going off.

“We checked the CCTV and could see that the window was smashed so we obviously just rushed down.”

On the CCTV footage the man can be seen parking a bike outside Heaney’s, Tommy's other restaurant which is also in Romilly Crescent, before walking to Uisce and smashing the window.
