Hailed for pioneering work on child trauma

The founder of a pioneering trauma recovery charity based in Bath has been awarded an MBE for services to child and adolescent mental health in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
Elizabeth (Betsy) de Thierry, who launched the Trauma Recovery Centre (TRC) in 2011, received the honour for her work supporting children and families to heal from trauma, underpinned by her message that “trauma recovery is possible”.
Since its inception, the TRC model has expanded significantly, with five centres having operated across the UK and Channel Islands over the past 14 years.
An evaluation by Canterbury Christ Church University reported that 98.8 per cent of young people supported through the TRC’s clinical framework saw a significant reduction in symptoms.
