Dezis claims victory in Championship

Mendip Golf Club’s Libbie Dezis managed to win the 36-hole West of England Ladies Open Championship at Bath Golf Club on Sunday.

Played off the white tees this year for the first time, Dezis’ total of 157 was just 5-over-par for the two rounds. Aimee Sawyer was a shot back in third after losing second-place on countback.
Entrants came from far and wide, including from some famous clubs and, while Dezis currently plays off a 4 handicap, there were 14 ladies playing off handicaps between 1 and +3.
The men’s Avalon B Team recorded their first points of the season when going down to a narrow 3-2 defeat against Wheathill. Mark Smith & Trevor Messenger scored the sole win, while halves came from Steven Heal & Andy Humphries and Andy Neeve & Keiran Wiltshire.
