Comedy and tragedy as Neil Hannon runs the emotional gamut

A dozen albums in the space of thirty years might seem a reasonable workrate.

After all, Kate Bush averages one every five years or so while the MC5 went 53 years between studio albums. Then again, Lordi recorded seven in one year.

Neil Hannon's workrate falls somewhat behind that of the Finnish Eurovision winners, though to be fair, he's not been idle in the six years since Top 5 long-player Office Politics.

Since then, the Divine Comedy's back catalogue was remastered and re-released in 2020, while a best of, Charmed Life, also went Top 5 when it came out in 2022.
