ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR TODDLER WHO DIED SUDDENLY

Walk for Rex marks 10 years since his death

A DECADE on from the first Walk for Rex, the Sevenoaks toddler continues to inspire.

Rex Gooden was a happy and healthy 22-month-old showing no signs of illness when he tragically died suddenly in 2015. The first Walk for Rex was held just two months later, to mark what should have been his second birthday.

It has been going ever since, raising more than £30,000, and returns to stunning Knole Park next Friday.

"This one is very special because it is 10 years of doing it every single year - even through Covid we did it remotely - we've never stopped," said Rex’s mum Camilla, from Brasted.

"It’s always been in Knole Park and they've been really supportive, which is really lovely."

Camilla co-founded charity SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood) UK in 2017. It now supports more than 200 families who have been through a similar tragedy and is working to raise awareness and fund vital research into the causes of sudden child deaths.

Walk for Rex is just one of 65 events held every year.
