New surgical hub approved

DEVELOPMENT COULD HELP EASE WAITING LISTS FOR ELECTIVE SURGERIES

PLANS for a surgical hub in Scunthorpe have been approved.

The development could help ease local waiting lists for elective surgeries, where surgeries are scheduled in advance.

A single-storey building will be developed on land off Normanby Road, close to the town’s driving test centre.

The hub will include a reception and waiting area, consultation rooms, a physio room, recovery unit, 12 patient en-suite bedrooms, a resident medical officer (RMO) en-suite bedroom, as well as staff areas and storage. Sheffield-headquartered One Health Group plc is behind it.

It is an independent provider of NHS-funded medical procedures, for patients referred through Patient Choice for treatment in orthopaedics, spine, general surgery, gynaecology and urology.
