New Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire promises to 'fight' for residents

THE new Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire vowed to “fight” for the county's residents and also called for illegal migrants to be housed in tents in an extraordinary victory speech.

Reform UK’s Dame Andrea Jenkyns convincingly won the first-ever contest to be mayor of the county with 42 per cent of the vote. Across Lincolnshire, she amassed almost 40,000 more votes than Rob Waltham, the Conservative candidate and current leader of North Lincolnshire Council, who finished in second place.

During her victory speech, after initially thanking her campaign staff and those involved in the election count, Dame Andrea said the campaign was the worst she has fought and claimed “dirty tricks” had been used against her.
