EXPERIENCE tells me anybody who announces they're making some miraculous tech gadget, but doesn’t tell you what it is, can safely be ignored.

It will probably never happen.

But Jony Ive and Sam Altman are not just anybody. When these two reveal, as they have, they’re working together to make something new, the entire world of tech pricks up its ears and takes notice.

Just in case you've forgotten who they are, allow me to remind you.

Ive was, until six years ago, the chief design officer at Apple - on his CV is the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, the MacBook, and the Apple Watch.

As much as anyone, perhaps bar Steve Jobs, Ive was responsible for Apple's miraculous turnaround from near bankruptcy in the mid-90s to become, by some measures, the biggest company in the world today.
