Cheerleading team is first in region to qualify for World Championships

A CHEERLEADING squad from Scunthorpe have become the first team in the area to qualify for the World Cheerleading Championships and are fundraising to get to the USA to compete for the prestigious title of world champions.

Tsunami Allstars Cheerleading was established on Eastgate Park in 2015 by Hayley Pearson, 36, who herself has been cheerleading since the age of 12.

The club has gone from strength to strength in the years since, and has a total of 11 teams, with ages ranging from three to 53.

Last weekend, the Stingrays Under-12s team competed in the Revolution Cheer competition in Manchester, and beat more than 80 teams from across the country.
