IT HAS SECURED MATERIALS TO MAINTAIN TWO-BLAST FURNACE OPERATION

BRITISH Steel is recruiting more than 180 new employees as it prepares to ramp up production in a remarkable turnaround just weeks after 2,700 jobs were at risk.
The company, which is now overseen by the UK Government after emergency intervention, has secured the raw materials to maintain a two-blast furnace operation and will significantly increase iron and steel production in the coming months.
To support this, and British Steel's drive towards a sustainable future, the company is advertising a wide variety of professional, skilled, and non-skilled roles in Scunthorpe, Teesside and Skinningrove with 165 of them in Scunthorpe.
Opportunities range from engineering and environment to chemistry and cleaning, and from legal and labouring to safety and stores. Interim CEO, Allan Bell, said: "With the backing of the UK Government, we are focused on cementing British Steel as one of the world's leading manufacturers of steel.
