'We must avoid a narrative of decline and embrace AI'

Scottish Sunday Express

April 05, 2026

BRITAIN must not "succumb to a narrative of decline" and needs to embrace artificial intelligence after losing economic ground in the past 10 years.

This is the stark message from Lionel Barber, the former editor of the Financial Times who has now joined US firm Capitol AI. Barber, who was editor of the FT for 15 years until 2020, added that Britain needs to be "a lot more business friendly" after a series of blows to the corporate sector.
